OK....here goes (Nobody laugh !!)
I fell off once...not due to ice, but a young lady leaning out of the passenger side of a moving car and patting my backside whilst passing me, then blowing a kiss at me With the shock of it happening I grabbed a load of breaks, only to realise that I was still locked on to my peddles upon stopping...So, with all the grace in the world that I could muster I collapsed onto the road side scuffing my new shoes and peddles (along with my pride), oh....and politly said "good morning" to the gentleman walking his dog along the path at the side of me (Looking very puzzled...) In my defence, I'd only had my new LOOK peddles for a couple of weeks when it happened......but it does evo
Thanks for joining the forum !! Brian (CycleRouteUK)

I've had several slow motion falls from my old MTB as I was getting used to the clips Now I fall off at much greater speed from my 12 month old MTB, with the aches and pains to prove it. I've never fallen off my road bike. Yet

I fell off first time out on my new road bike. Long downhill section with a sweeping right hand bend at the bottom which swept round slightly faster than I did. Spectacular crash at about 20 mph which left me needing a new chainring set from the shop where I'd been buying some accessories for the bike only two hours earlier! Very embarrassing having to walk in with blood running down my arm and leg and a rip in my shorts!
The first time I went out with spd pedals I called at my parents house. I couldn't unclip in time and suffered the indignity of a slow fall into their front garden hedge whilst their neighbour looked on in disbelief.

Welcome to the forum Neil.......Like the story !!. We've all crashed at some point I guess. You've never rode a bike unless you've drawn blood...ha ha

My first time out in a pair of strap on pedals left me a little sore. I stopped for a comfort break in a field gateway, put my foot out sideways on stopping as always in the past and forgot about the strap on pedals - result a slow motion keel over to the left, THUD! The sort of thing you only do once I guess. I am a new member so this is my first message, Hi. Is this what is known as "crashing onto the scene."?

Hi nodrog.....welcome to the forum. The "THUD" could have been worse my friend in a field gateway....could have been a "Squidge !". You where lucky !!! ha ha ha
Oh...No such thing as crashing the scene !! Feel free to jump into any conversation. Thats what the forum's about.... and hopefully more and more users will join soon making it a cool place for a chat.
Thanks for the story...
Bri...

It's nice to know other people fall off! Iwas avoiding a pile of horse droppings on the N Wales Cycle Path, just o/s Pensarn, and came off at about 12 mph. Because my front wheel went into gravel and I was braking, the bike broadsided and I went over sideways, still clipped in. Back wheel shaped like a banana, saddle ripped, 6 fractured ribs, punctured and partially collapsed lung! I think the other posters should count themselves lucky just to have their pride hurt!

Ow, ow and ow. That's a terrible fall to have Brayn. I hope you're fully recovered and cycling away happily again now.
Just to add to the thread, I've come off the bike a few times myself because of unfamiliarity with clipless pedals. Thankfully that all (hopefully) seems to be confined to my past.
