This would be a good ride if you had a death wish. Nearly all this route is on very busy, fast and narrowish roads, used by a lot of HGVs. I would suggest starting off at midnight.

Thanks for the input…this is exactly what the forum’s about !! Is it the 42mile Stines Route in the North West section - posted by "chisa" ? As you can appreciate I can’t actually ride all the routes on the site, although I do know these roads, and yes it can get quite busy…. Having said that, it is nice challenging ride territory and I do intend to follow the route sometime next year myself I could maybe post a note on the rides “Route Page” mentioning that a thread has been started about it

I'm looking to do this route soon but I'd head North East from Langsett to Holmfirth to take in the Holme Moss climb and avoid the very busy trans pennine road. Anyone up for this let me know. What about a day over Christmas 28th or 29th or 30th?

You might want to try the 53.3mile Yorkshire Tour Ride which I did on august bank holiday this year (sunday). It takes a similar route to the strines ride but avoids most of the main roads and keeping mostly to country lanes. It touches the Woodhead Pass for about 2 miles which was quite busy, and then takes in the main snake pass ride from Glossop back to sheffield, but to be honest the Snake was farily light in traffic, considering its a popular area for tourists.
The ride was a mass participation ride with over 800 riders taking part, and was very well planned to avoid busy roads.
Would definately recommend it and I think it is being oraganised again for next year by Sport England (http://www.bcrides.co.uk/)
Cheers Lee
